What data are in the pings sent to Oxford Nanopore?

The device software only pings back run metrics and diagnostic instrument data such as heatsink temperature, ASIC temperature, and total pore numbers available in the flow cell.

This instrument data could potentially be used to investigate problems or improve our products.

Biological data are not pinged back, as specified in the Nanopore Terms and Conditions.

If the ping data need to be manually shared, they are stored in the /pings subfolder in the default 'data' location specified in this FAQ.

MinKNOW software does not store any data - the data are stored by default in the local machine on which MinKNOW is installed or in a user-specified location.
