What is the RNA integrity number (RIN)?

What is the RNA integrity number (RIN)?

The RNA integrity number is a quality control test that measures the level of degradation of the RNA in the extract on a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being the least degraded.

It is recommended that your sample extract has a RIN of 7 or higher before proceeding with library prep.

For more information, please visit the article RNA stability in our Nanopore know-how section.
