Why does exposure to light reduce output?

Why does exposure to light reduce output?

We have found that shielding the flow cell array from light when the library is on the flow cell increases pore lifetime and flow cell output during the sequencing run. Blocking light exposure is only required whilst a sequencing library is on the flow cell. Our R&D teams are exploring the biochemical interactions between light and the flow cell.
