Main Stage talk

Decoding the Genetics of Neurodegeneration with Population-Scale Long-Read Sequencing

Date: Wednesday, June 12, 2024

Time: 4:50 PM to 5:20 PM ET

Location: Main Stage

This talk will focus on the CARD-long read initiative, whereby Dr. Billingsley and her team have developed scalable methods for population-scale Nanopore long read sequencing from human brain and blood samples. This framework has then been applied to generate whole-genome long-read data from hundreds of human samples. Using this they have characterized structural variation and began to assess the impact of these new variants on gene expression and methylation in the human brain.
