How to get started with nanopore sequencing and plan your experiment

Learn everything you need to know to get started with nanopore sequencing. This masterclass provides an overview of the nanopore workflow — from extraction right through to data analysis — and guidance through how to plan your experiment.

In this masterclass, you will learn:

  • How nanopore sequencing technology works
  • The key benefits of nanopore sequencing
  • What to consider when planning your first sample-to-answer nanopore sequencing experiment
  • Where to find comprehensive online learning resources to support you through the process

Speaker name Akelia Wauchope-Odumbo Associate Director, Technical Applications — Americas, Oxford Nanopore Technologies

Biography Akelia received her PhD from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, USA, where she worked on the multicellular green algae, Volvox carteri, developing molecular tools and gene knockdown systems. Her postdoctoral work at Synaptic Research involved optimization of algae and bacterial protein expression for therapeutic nanobodies. As a GENEWIZ project manager, she applied molecular biology strategies to complete client projects. In 2016, Akelia joined the technical services team at Oxford Nanopore and is now the Associate Director, Technical Applications — Americas.
