Dr. R. Cory Bernhards is a Research Biologist in the Biodefense Branch of the U.S. Army DEVCOM Chemical Biological Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. His research programs focus on the development of fieldable and automated identification systems for biothreat agents. Previously, Dr. Bernhards worked as a Research Microbiologist for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA). Prior to that he was an NRC Postdoctoral Fellow at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) at Ft. Detrick, Maryland. Dr. Bernhards received both his BS and PhD degrees in Biological Sciences from Virginia Tech.
