Aaron Viny is a physician scientist with a clinical expertise in the treatment of myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia; and a laboratory focus on epigenetic determinants of normal and malignant hematopoietic stem cell function. His laboratory employs new and existing mouse models, studies primary patient samples, and applies state-of-the-art epigenomic/transcriptional assays for assessing 3-dimensional chromatin structure in the malignant context. Specifically, Aaron’s research program focuses on how mutations in the cohesin complex alter chromatin structure and the mechanisms by which they contribute to hematopoietic transformation. These key events and their findings aim to identify new pathways and approaches for future therapeutic investigation.
