Why did my Native/Rapid Barcoding Kit come with barcoding plates instead of vials?

Why did my Native/Rapid Barcoding Kit come with barcoding plates instead of vials?

The 24 barcode vials found in SQK-NBD114.24 and SQK-RBK114.24 are now provided in a 96 well format with each well containing sufficient barcode for one reaction with some overfill volume. The barcodes are supplied in two skirted PCR plates with accompanying reagents sufficient for 6 reactions.

It's important to note that the actual reagents in the kits remain unchanged; only the way they are packaged has been altered. The image below highlights these changes and shows batch numbers going forward for kits that have these changes.
