Overview

Flexible DNA/RNA high-throughput nanopore sequencers Offering the flexibility of 24 independently controllable, high-output flow cells and leveraging state-of-the-art algorithms and GPU technology, PromethION 24 (P24) provides single or multiple users with on-demand access to terabases of sequencing data. PromethION 48 (P48), our most powerful sequencing device, delivers twice the capacity and output of P24 — ideal for large- and production-scale sequencing projects.

PromethION 24 and PromethION 48

Specifications

Two PromethION models are available for high-throughput sequencing projects: the PromethION 24 (P24) and PromethION 48 (P48), respectively operating up to 24 and 48 flow cells at once. Both systems are deployed with the powerful PromethION A-Series tower, utilising 4 NVIDIA A-Series GPUs for real-time data handling.

Read length

Nanopores read the length of DNA or RNA presented to them — from short to ultra-long (longest >4 Mb)

Capturing global genomic diversity in the human pangenome with long nanopore reads

The team used the PromethION sequencing device from Oxford Nanopore Technologies to generate ultra-long reads from each of the 47 samples. For the 29 samples sequenced entirely by the consortium, the average read length was 28.4 kb; for 18 additional samples with prior sequencing data from other sources, the nanopore read length N50 value was approximately 44 kb.
