About the MinION Mk1D
MinION is a real-time pocket sized sequencer that can be used almost anywhere. It has been used In hundreds of research labs around the world providing a cost effective and accessible solution for long read, nanopore based genetic sequencing. In addition to its use in laboratories the small size and versatility of MinION has enabled its use in some of the worlds most extreme environments including the Amazon rainforest and even aboard the International Space Station.
The MinION Mk1D represents our latest innovation in pocket sized sequencing designed to be used with modern laptops and MacBooks via USB-C connectivity improving the power supply and data transfer speed over prior versions.
The improved power supply has enabled improved Peltier circuit based thermal control which ensures reproducible and reliable sequencing performance between 10°C and 35°C. This extends the range of MinION sequencing both in the field and in remote laboratories without access to reliable temperature control measures.
The MinION Mk1D is currently in development and will be released into open early access to existing MinION customers as well as those that have registered their interest here on November 13th 2024 with wider access coming in January 2025.
