Abstract Dorado is an open-source tool written in C++ that supports CUDA, x86, and Apple Silicon architectures. Initially developed as a basecaller, Dorado has recently expanded to include additional functionalities such as alignment, poly-A tail length estimation, and read correction. This talk will provide an overview of Dorado, highlighting recent updates and showcasing its enhanced capabilities and performance improvements. Future plans for further expanding Dorado functionality will also be discussed, offering insights into the ongoing development and potential applications of this versatile tool. Biography Mike Vella is the Senior Director of Machine Learning at Oxford Nanopore. He received his PhD in Computational Neuroscience from the University of Cambridge, where he developed a keen interest in leveraging computational techniques to address biological challenges. In his current role, Mike leads a team dedicated to using machine learning to enhance the processing and analysis of DNA, RNA, and protein sequences.
