Users can use the Start from a sample sheet button on the Start page of MinKNOW GUI to upload a file to provide an alias, such as a sample name, for each of their barcodes.

This will then be used on the barcode graph on the GUI, in the FASTQ header and file names, in the barcoded folder names and in the sequence summary (under alias) to help with sample tracking. Please refer to the Sample sheet upload section of the MinKNOW protocol for details and examples.
