The MinKNOW version number used to generate the .pod5 file can be found within the metadata and extracted using the pod5 inspect tool. Refer to the pod5 documentation to install the pod5 tools.

Look for the 'software' field in the output of 'pod5 inspect debug file_name.pod5'. An example command, executed from the experiment output folder, is shown below, together with an example result.

$ pod5 inspect debug pod5_pass/FAX52199_pass_barcode01_93bd20ce_2200cf9e_0.pod5 | grep software
