Do I need to use BSA in my flow cell priming mix?

We recommend the addition of BSA as it shows an improvement in the overall performance of our kit V14 sequencing runs on MinION and GridION R10.4.1 flow cells (FLO-MIN114).

We have run BSA on Flongle and PromethION and do not see an impact (positive or negative) on performance so do not recommend adding it with these flow cells.

We have also run BSA with our older chemistries and do not see an impact (positive or negative) on performance.

Please follow the guidance on our protocols for when to use BSA in your experiment.

We do not recommend using recombinant albumin.
