If you see an error such as this when trying to begin a experiment using an external SSD on Mac. It may mean your external SSD is not correctly configured at a permissions / operating system level.

Please do the following steps:

Ensure read/write access is enabled for the SSD. Using the Finder application, right click on the drive and click ‘get info’. Ensure the logged in user has read/write permission.

If you are still unable to use the external SSD with MinKNOW. Open the ‘system settings’, navigate to ‘privacy and security'. Enable full disk access for MinKNOW and try again.

You may need administrator privileges to enable full disk access

Please restart MinKNOW and retry your experiment. If the issue persists, please reach out to technical support at support@nanoporetech.com
