Nanopore technology offers long-read, real-time, direct DNA or RNA sequencing. Based on embedding protein nanopores into an electrically resistant membrane and passing an ionic current through the pore, nanopore devices allow nucleic acid characterisation on highly scalable arrays.
All nanopore sequencing devices use the same core technology, making it simple to scale depending on the application. The devices contain either a single, or multiple consumable flow cells, to which the sample is added. The flow cell contains a sensor array in which nanopore sequencing is performed and this can be scaled up or down to any size device.
