- A high-quality Oxford Nanopore assembly of the hourglass dolphin (Sagmatias cruciger) genome
Building sequencing capacity within the regions that rare species inhabit would support indigenous data sovereignty. Here the authors show that Oxford Nanopore sequencing alone can be used to construct a high-quality genome assembly of the hourglass dolphin. High data quality and low costs mean nanopore sequencing could enable indigenous community participation in conservation.
