Bringing Genomic COVID-19 Surveillance to the Developing World

COVID-19 affects the entire world. However, only high-income countries are able to track SARS-CoV-2 variants, since access to genomic pathogen sequencing is limited by equipment and reagent availability.

Project Accessible Genomics is a low-cost genomic sequencing operation started by volunteers in the open science platform Just One Giant Lab (JOGL.io).

In this webinar Kahlil Corazo, who led a pilot of Project Accessible Genomics at the Philippine Genome Center Mindanao, will outline the Project’s achievements so far and explain how the team’s experience could guide labs in other developing countries.

Attend this webinar to learn:

  • The risks and rewards of setting up a genetic testing lab in a developing country
  • How Project Accessible Genomics is helping bring SARS-CoV-2 surveillance to Mindanao, Philippines
  • How Kahlil’s team plan to scale deployment based on their pilot project’s results
