Keertan Dheda, University of Cape Town & London School of Hygiene and Tropical MedicineKeertan Dheda holds a joint appointment between the LSHTM (Professor of Mycobacteriology and Global Health) and the University of Cape Town (UCT), where he is the Director of the Centre for Lung Infection and Immunity. After graduating at the University of Witwatersrand in 1992 (Certificate of Merit) he completed UK and EU-accredited training in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine in London. He graduated with a PhD from UCL in 2005 through a British Lung Foundation Fellowship award.
Swapna Uplekar, FINDDr Swapna Uplekar is the Principal Scientist in the Genomics & Sequencing Programme at FIND, focused on enabling next-generation sequencing technologies for disease surveillance and clinical diagnostics as well as supporting NGS implementation and capacity building efforts in low- and middle-income countries. Her current areas of work include tuberculosis, COVID-19, AMR, malaria and other pandemic-prone pathogens. Swapna has a PhD in Genomics and Bioinformatics and extensive research experience in TB and malaria pathogen genomics.
