Oxford Nanopore at the RNA Society Annual Meeting 2026

Oxford Nanopore will be at the Annual Meeting of the RNA Society in May, 2026, hosted in Montreal. We will also host a Pre-conference Workshop on Tuesday, May 26, in addition to a Sponsored Seminar on Wednesday, May 27. See additional details below.

Pre-conference Workshop


The Long View: Long-Read RNA Sequencing, Tools, and Live Demonstration

Long-read sequencing technologies are transforming RNA biology by enabling full-length transcript characterization, isoform resolution, and direct RNA analysis without amplification.​

This pre-meeting workshop will introduce long-read approaches for both direct RNA and cDNA sequencing using the Oxford Nanopore platform, highlighting key advantages for transcriptomics and RNA modification studies. The session will feature a scientific presentation by Libby Snell, Director of RNA and cDNA Sample Technology at Oxford Nanopore Technologies, followed by a live flow cell–loading demonstration, giving attendees the opportunity to experience the technology in action.​ This session will also feature an invited keynote speaker (TBC).

The workshop will conclude with a data analysis module covering the core components of transcriptome analysis for ONT cDNA and native RNA sequencing data. Attendees will learn how to perform data QC, configure and run ONT’s secondary analysis workflow (wf‑transcriptomes) on the EPI2ME platform via both the GUI and command line, and interpret key outputs. The module will also introduce modkit, ONT’s supported tool for analyzing DNA and RNA base modifications—including m6A, m5C, and inosine.

Finally, participants will receive practical guidance on recommended third‑party tools for downstream analyses such as alternative splicing, differential expression, and visualization of ONT transcriptome data.​

By participating in this workshop, attendees will be able to confidently analyze Oxford Nanopore transcriptome data—from raw reads to actionable insights—using ONT‑supported workflows and best‑practice downstream tools.​
