What is the effect of the presence of rRNA on RNA/cDNA library preparation?

What is the effect of the presence of rRNA on RNA/cDNA library preparation?

The presence of rRNA can affect the quantification of the input poly(A)+ RNA required for the library prep.

Therefore, we recommend selecting poly(A)+ RNA by removal of rRNA (“ribodepletion”) or enrich for poly(A)+ RNA prior to library prep.

The detailed poly(A)+ RNA selection methods can be found in the Nanopore know-how section.
