Direct RNA sequencing with nanopore opens up to more users

Nanopore technology is the only available sequencing technology that can sequence RNA directly, rather than depending on reverse transcription and PCR. It is also increasingly being used for the analysis of cDNA, where long read lengths enable full length transcripts.

Direct RNA sequencing kits were introduced to a small number of researchers in December 2016; results from these experiments will be presented at the London Calling conference in May 2017.

Today, Direct RNA sequencing kits became more broadly available within the nanopore community. Read more about RNA analysis using nanopore technology, or review talks and publications on RNA analysis here.
