Rapid epigenomic classification of acute leukaemia

Researchers developed MARLIN, a machine learning tool for rapid classification of acute leukaemia using real-time DNA methylation profiling. In both retrospective and prospective studies, Oxford Nanopore sequencing enabled accurate molecular subtyping within two hours. While currently for research use only, this approach highlights the potential of nanopore technology to support faster, more comprehensive leukaemia characterisation alongside standard diagnostic methods.

'Together, these data highlight the potential of MARLIN and nanopore sequencing to greatly accelerate diagnostic workflows for patients presenting with AL'
