Mapping medically relevant RNA isoform diversity in the aged human frontal cortex with deep long-read RNA-seq

Short-read sequencing limits isoform analysis to a single gene expression measurement, which is an oversimplification of the underlying biology. Here the authors use nanopore RNA sequencing to confirm gene and isoform expression in brain samples from individuals with, and without, Alzheimer’s Disease. 99 differentially expressed isoforms were identified between the groups, providing deeper insight into what may drive this disease.
