Dorado: latest developments and future directions


Biography

Chris Seymour is the Vice President of Advanced Platform Development at Oxford Nanopore Technologies. He has a BSc in Computer Science and a background in Software Engineering and Applied Machine Learning. In his current role, Chris leads interdisciplinary teams to drive innovation across Instrument Software, Hardware, and Machine Learning.

Abstract

Dorado is an open-source tool written in C++ that supports CUDA, x86, and Apple Silicon architectures. Initially developed as a basecaller, Dorado has recently expanded to include additional functionalities, such as alignment, poly-A tail length estimation, and read correction. This talk will provide an overview of Dorado, highlighting recent updates and showcasing its enhanced capabilities and performance improvements. Future plans for further expanding Dorado functionality will also be discussed, offering insights into the ongoing development and potential applications of this versatile tool.
