How to run your sequencing device and get started with data analysis

Learn how to start a nanopore sequencing run on your device. This masterclass provides an overview of MinKNOW — the software onboard nanopore sequencing devices — including how nanopore sequencing data is converted to basecalls, data analysis options, and a demo showcasing how to set up a sequencing run.

In this masterclass, you will learn:

  • How real-time nanopore sequencing data is converted into basecalls, and how to basecall your data
  • About the options available for nanopore data analysis, for every level of experience, and how to select the right method for your experiment
  • About the different file formats involved in nanopore sequencing data analysis
  • How to set up a sequencing run on your device and view real-time data and run reports

Biography

Bryant Catano is a Senior Product Support Scientist at Oxford Nanopore Technologies. In his role he helps manage the global support strategy for hardware and software issues, as well as driving the customer voice through the product life cycle. His graduate work at William Paterson University, USA, investigated the bacterial communities associating with various strains of Karenia brevis, a marine dinoflagellate responsible for toxic algal blooms along the Gulf of Mexico.
