Since completing her PhD at Columbia University’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences in Earth and Environmental Engineering, Dr. Annavajhala has been a postdoctoral researcher at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Medini’s primary research interests include: applied wastewater-based epidemiology to define the dynamics of multidrug-resistant organisms as they cycle from humans to waste streams and into the surrounding environment. Dr. Annavajhala will be starting her laboratory as an Assistant Professor in the University of Pennsylvania, Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, in fall 2024, which will focus on the optimization of clinically-relevant wastewater infectious diseases surveillance.
