University of Zurich Microbial Genomics & Sequencing Unit

The Microbial Genomics & Sequencing Unit at the Institute for Food Safety and Hygiene provides microbial genomics and sequencing services for academic, public health, and industry partners.

Our work covers whole-genome sequencing of microbial isolates, shotgun metagenomics, and ITS/16S rRNA sequencing. We can support projects across the full workflow, from DNA extraction and library preparation to sequencing, data processing, and downstream bioinformatic analysis such as taxonomic classification, AMR profiling, high-resolution genotyping, or methylation calling.

We regularly contribute to pathogen identification and surveillance, contamination source tracking, outbreak investigations, method development, and research in food safety and microbiology. We are happy to discuss how we can support your project.
