Working for Oxford Nanopore

Oxford Nanopore is developing a nanopore-powered molecular detection system that has the potential to provide substantial benefits to society. These benefits include: the acceleration of the development of new personalised medicines, improving the diagnosis of disease, and providing protection against security threats. The science that Oxford Nanopore was founded on represents decades of research from the world's most prestigious universities.

The MinION is available within the MinION Access Programme, where it is being piloted by several hundred customers in a variety of applications.

Research, development and production

The development of Oxford Nanopore's technology platform requires the expertise of scientists, informaticians and engineers across a range of disciplines. Our team includes specialists in chemistry, molecular biology, electrophysiology, fluidics and materials engineering, design and manufacturing engineering, electronic systems engineering, software development, statistics and bioinformatics.

Individual technical excellence and teamworking are therefore a priority for the Company. We are seeking candidates who can contribute the highest level of technical expertise and integrate the science from other disciplines into their work. We employ agile methods of working, not only for our software development but across our system. This means that we seek candidates who are dynamic and have excellent communication skills, embrace a fast-paced working environment and are responsive to change.

Customer-facing

Oxford Nanopore does not plan to build a traditional sales-focused commercial team. As we introduce the technology to customers, we have started to build a technical and customer support team whose focus will be to find out what analyses the customer wishes to perform and how they can best be supported in those goals. This team works within the MAP customer community, offering much assistance to users online within the MAP online community. We are seeking people who are customer-focused rather than company-centric.
