The MinION is a portable DNA/RNA sequencer that can be accessed for $1,000. It offers long read, real time, on-demand sequencing and has been used in a wide range of applications; see here for publications.
On 1st December 2016, at the Nanopore Community Meeting in New York, the first human genomes to be sequenced on a MinION were presented. The presenters noted meaningful first results as well as a desire to continue work on expanding their projects and share their results with the scientific community.
