Oxford Nanopore RNA analysis: 7x less data and 50x fewer reads needed, very low GC bias
Wed 18th October 2017
Today, the Oxford Nanopore applications group released a new poster: “Low bias RNA-seq: PCR-cDNA, PCR-free direct cDNA and direct RNA sequencing”.
The poster examines all three of the Oxford Nanopore RNA analysis kits, showing how length and % GC content biases compare to short read technology – most notably a virtually absent % GC bias in Oxford Nanopore data.
The poster also shows how 7x less total data is required to cover the same number of transcripts using long reads compared to short reads, and 50x fewer reads.
